E-scooter repairs usually start with a strange sound or feeling while riding. Here is how mechanical Ninebot faults most often show up.
01from 5 €
The scooter creaks or rattles while riding
WhyMost often it’s loose bolts, misadjusted headset bearings or play in the folding mechanism. Less often, worn bearings.
Check it yourselfCheck that the stem is held firmly and that none of the visible bolts are loose. For more tips, see our article on the causes of creaking.
What we doWe tighten and adjust the assemblies, and replace bearings if needed.
02from 5 €
The handlebar wobbles or „wanders”
WhyMost likely the headset bearings are misadjusted or the fork is worn. After impacts, the fork itself may also be damaged.
Check it yourselfWhile standing, lock the front wheel and move the handlebar back and forth. If you feel play, don’t ride any further.
What we doWe adjust the headset bearings and, if needed, replace the fork bearings or the fork. Learn more: handlebar, fork and bearing repair.
03from 10 €
The tyre keeps going flat
WhyA punctured inner tube, a damaged valve, or a tiny hole through which the air escapes slowly.
Check it yourselfMeasure the pressure and check it again after a few hours. Look to see whether there is an object stuck in the tyre.
What we doWe replace the tyre or inner tube, and when the air escapes slowly, the tyre can be filled with sealant.
04from 5 €
Weak braking or the brake lever feels „empty”
WhyA stretched or worn cable, worn brake components, or misadjusted settings. In rare cases, a damaged cable housing.
Check it yourselfSee whether the lever reaches the handlebar, and whether the wheel spins freely when the brake is released.
What we doWe adjust the brake and, if needed, replace the cable, housing or lever. More here: brake repair and adjustment.

The folding mechanism wobbles or doesn’t lock
WhyA worn folding system, a misadjusted clamp or a damaged part. As a result, the stem moves while riding.
Check it yourselfFold and unfold the scooter again, and see whether the latch locks fully.
What we doWe adjust or replace the parts of the folding mechanism.
06from 20 €
The wheel hums, knocks or vibrates
WhyWorn front or rear wheel bearings, an unevenly worn tyre, and sometimes a motor (wheel) problem.
Check it yourselfLift the scooter, spin the wheel by hand and listen for any crackling.
What we doWe replace the bearings and, if needed, replace the motor (wheel) as a part.

The fender is broken off or rattles
WhyA plastic mudguard can crack, break or come loose from impacts or from the bracket.
Check it yourselfCheck that the mudguard doesn’t touch the wheel and that the bracket bolts are tight.
What we doWe replace the mudguard and, if necessary, fit a bracket.
08from 15 €
The handle or the front light no longer works
WhyA mechanically damaged throttle or brake lever after a fall, a broken mount, or a burnt-out front LED light.
Check it yourselfInspect the lever for cracks and check that it doesn’t spin around on the handlebar.
What we doWe replace the lever or the light. We do not carry out electrical or electronics repairs.

An older scooter drains quickly
WhyAn old battery may need to be replaced with a new one. Before that, it’s worth checking that the brake isn’t rubbing and that the tyre pressure is sufficient.
Check it yourselfCheck the tyre pressure and that the wheels spin freely.
What we doWe replace the battery with a new one or fit an additional battery. We do not repair batteries.
